The Man Who Did Not Age: My Father's Memoirs, the Heimtal Enigma, and the Mission to Preserve a Lifetime
Between the fertile red clay of Heimtal and mysteries that defy science: discover 'The Man Who Did Not Age', the true memoirs written by José Carlos Wagenheimer Lima and a father-and-son journey to keep these memories alive.
"This is not a tale of heroes or chosen ones. It is the story of a rural farm boy born in Heimtal, northern Paraná, Brazil, who witnessed and felt upon his own skin things that did not fit the world as he was taught... And remember with every page turned: this is not a work of fiction. This is my life."
— José Carlos Wagenheimer Lima, from the book's preface.
What would you do if the unexplained wasn't just folklore whispered around a campfire, but the raw, startling reality of your own youth?
For over five decades, my father, José Carlos Wagenheimer Lima, kept a chest of extraordinary memories in silence. Recollections of an era when the German settlement of Heimtal, in rural Londrina (Paraná, Brazil), was defined by fertile red dirt roads, pioneer hardship, and vast coffee plantations that seemed to breathe under thick morning mist.
That soil harbored secrets that defied physics, biology, and human comprehension. Today, with profound emotion, I introduce the official launch of the book: "The Man Who Did Not Age: Memoirs of the Unexplained in Heimtal".
🌫️ The Red Soil and the Great Mysteries of Heimtal
"The Man Who Did Not Age" was not born from a desire to write fantasy. It was born from the firsthand testimony of a man who lived through events that left him carrying the heavy burden of doubt: was it illusion, or is reality infinitely more vast and mysterious than we dare to believe?
Across the book's 18 chapters, readers encounter unforgettable real-life mysteries:
1. The Barn Guest and the Pharmacy Encounter
Imagine repeatedly crossing paths across decades — from boyhood on the farm to middle age — with the same quiet, calm young man. In the 1970s, he took shelter in the old wooden barn during nights of strange aerial lights in the coffee fields. Years later, he appeared on the downtown Londrina pedestrian street. And decades later, when my father was a graying man suffering from severe chronic back pain, he entered a local pharmacy for an anti-inflammatory injection. The substitute pharmacist applied the medicine without touching the skin: "Look here: full syringe... and now, empty syringe. Don't tell anyone". Looking into his eyes, my father's heart skipped a beat: it was the exact same young man from the barn, with the exact same youthful 20-something appearance, having not aged a single second across more than thirty years.
2. Missing Time over the Coffee Groves
Accounts of silent luminous discs descending over the coffee bushes in the dead of night, causing dogs to howl in terror. During one shocking encounter, watches stopped and hours were erased in seconds, leaving circular scorch marks on the ground and electrostatic charges in human bodies that local physicians could not explain.
3. The Crack in the Skull and Dona Regina the Healer
Following his first encounters, Carlos developed severe, violent seizures. Brain scans at the Santa Casa hospital revealed a jagged crack engraved in his parietal bone ("the fracture"). On the verge of an invasive cranial surgery, his mother removed him from the hospital and brought him to Dona Regina, the legendary rural healer and midwife who had delivered Carlos as a baby. Through ancient prayers, herbal teas, and spiritual cleansing, the seizures vanished forever — but the physical mark on the bone remained as a lifelong reminder.
4. The Ant Woman and Chico Xavier's Message
In room 505 of the Júlio Fuganti Building in Londrina, a distraught woman arrived carrying a bag filled with dead ants that had been erupting from a painful lesion under her skin. Desperate, she had traveled to Uberaba to consult renowned medium Chico Xavier. Chico Xavier looked at her and said: "Your cure is not here in Minas Gerais. Return to Londrina, go to room 505, where a young man has already foreseen your cure in a dream". That young man was Carlos, whose dream days prior had detailed the exact white wax procedure required.
5. Invisible Hands and Guided Fates
From a perilous leap from a second-story window of a haunted wooden manor — where invisible hands cushioned his impact — to unexplained intuitive impulses in traffic that redirected him moments before fatal crashes, the narrative reveals a guiding presence watching over those touched by the inexplicable.
✍️ Writing as Preservation: Rescuing Memories Before They Fade
Writing a true memoir is a vulnerable, cathartic process. It means confronting the fear of skepticism and reconstructing a pioneer Londrina that no longer exists: the native peroba-wood houses, kerosene lamps, the aroma of wood-fired coffee, and the vast, misty silence of Heimtal dawns.
When my father first showed me his handwritten memoirs, I knew this was more than a book: it was a family heirloom and an invaluable historical record of Southern Brazilian folklore and paranormal encounters.
I made him a solemn promise: time will never erase these stories.
